2014 warmest year
The Japan Meteorological Agency
which keeps global records,
2014 was the warmest year in the modern record.
Europe was the hottest it’s been in 500 years
California had record-smashing heat.
Australia broke heat records
across the continent (for the second year running).
Much of Siberia defrosted in spring and early summer
under temperatures more than 5°C above its 1981 to 2010 average.
